It’s a rough check. Wear bars in the tread grooves are clearer. We measure depth across the tire so you know front vs rear and inside vs outside.

Can I replace just two tires?

Sometimes, yes — usually matching a pair on the same axle, with the better tread where your vehicle needs it. We’ll tell you if mixing would be unsafe for your setup.

Wear bars, bulges, vibration that follows speed, and slow leaks are the usual reasons we tell folks it’s time for new tires — not a calendar date alone.

Tires are your only contact patch with the road. When tread or structure is gone, stopping and wet grip go with them.

Replace when you see or feel

Tread down to the wear bars
Sidewall cracks, cuts, or bulges
Vibration that gets worse with speed
Repeated slow leaks or nails in the sidewall (often not repairable)
Uneven wear that leaves one edge bald

Age still counts

Even with tread left, old rubber hardens and cracks. If a tire is well past its useful age, we’ll say so — especially on a spare or a trailer that sits a lot.
